Volume 4, Number 1 (2026) Special Issue on Pension Systems
The Journal of New Finance is pleased to publish this Special Issue on Pension Systems. As pension sustainability has become one of the most pressing challenges facing public finances around the world, we sought to bring greater attention to this topic by bringing together researchers to examine its many dimensions and contribute new evidence, analysis, and policy insights.
Across the five contributions included in this issue, readers will find political economy perspectives, institutional analyses, country case studies, innovative analytical frameworks, and policy recommendations informed by successful pension system reforms and transitions. Together, these articles offer a broad and timely assessment of the challenges confronting pension systems and the opportunities for meaningful reform.
We encourage readers to engage seriously with the issues discussed in this volume and to use these contributions as a foundation for informed debate, further research, and constructive policy change in their own countries.
